Nacra F17 North Americans 2008

After the banquet on Tuesday evening an informal group of 17 sailors gathered over at Eric Kennedy’s campfire, to discuss the 2008 event.  Three locations were mentioned Fort Walton Bch.. Fl., Tybee Island, GA . & North Cape Yacht Club, Mi ( Ohio border), Eric was considering Event Chairmanship for Mi or maybe Tybee. The F17 sailors agreed that it will be important to get a commitment on the 2008 site by 75% of the sailors. After the Nacra 20 NAs are over, INCA will take a hard look at future sites.

F 17 North American Championship… The F17 Class debuted, the new F17 super wing (640) aluminum mast, this is the same mast section used on the Nacra F18 Infusion. The mast is rig & fittings are mounted exactly in the same position as the F17 carbon  mast. Two new boats were equipped & made available for the contestants to test the new class legal rig.

Most of the top F17 sailors took the time  to put the mast & sail thru some testing against the carbon rig.   Overall comment : Nacra Design Group gets “A”, didn’t seem to be anymore hobby horsing in the chop compared to the carbon mast.  & #1 comment

“the performance seems to match the carbon mast.”
